Sound setting on Bass Drum for create a great sound can be very difficult (Bonham master on this ha ha. .), but maybe my friend setting suitable for you to try.
Sometimes the bass drum itself is the problem. In other cases, the problem may be the room you are playing in. There are many steps you can take to get a better sound out of your bass drum, including proper tuning and muffling or adjusting the bass drum pedal. Here it is my friends took for his drum. The first thing, you have to do is prepare your drum kit.
Things You'll Need:
- Bass drum
- Muffling
- Towels
- Clothing
- Bass drum pedal
- Check the bass drum's tuning. Make sure that the bass drum is tuned evenly all around. Tighten each section of the drum head so that the tension is uniform.
- Place a pillow inside of the bass drum. An empty bass drum can often provide too much resonance. Muffling is the solution to this problem. A cheap and simple way to muffle a bass drum is by using a pillow. Don't use too large a pillow or you will lose too much of the low end of the drum sound. Experiment with different pillow sizes until you find the sound you want.
- Put clothing or towels inside the bass drum. These popular alternatives to pillows will give you more control over the level of muffling.
- Use professional muffling products. Instead of a pillow or clothes, consider using more expensive professional bass drum muffling products. Remo produces some of the more popular bass drum muffling solutions (see Resources).
- Adjust the height of your bass drum pedal. The pedal should make contact with the bass drum directly in the center of the drum in order to get the best possible sound. If the pedal is off center, you will get a weaker sound because of reduced airflow.
- Try moving your drums to a different room. Rooms that are too reflective can make the drums sound too resonant. Small rooms that are not reflective enough can make the bass drum sound weak. You may be hearing "the room" rather than the true sound of the bass drum.
